The Environment and Airspace Group holds a particularly wide and diverse brief addressing: the environmental and human impacts of overflying aircraft and the airport; the innovative work to address climate change and Net Zero; new developments in aviation (such as Advance Air Mobility) and UK aviation policy; and responding to Airspace Modernisation and Airspace Change Proposals and Airport operational matters.
Consequently the Group is attended by LA officers from a range of technical backgrounds and draws on other expertise also to provide a forum for sharing knowledge, understanding and best practice, and for the formulation of responses to complex and technical data and proposals. Much of the Group’s work is reflected in support to member LAs in their own and in joint responses made by HSPG to a range of public consultations and engagements by Heathrow Airport, UK Government and the CAA.
